Vahagn Krbekyan
VAHAGN KRBEKYAN
Vahagn was born in 1968, in Yerevan. He received his primary education at the Yerevan Comprehensive School No 42. In 1986, he entered the Department of History at the St. Petersburg State University. In 1987-1989, he served in the Soviet Army. In 1993, after graduating from the University, he engaged in the city’s social life; he was the assistant of Vladimir Amatuni, the Head of the Armenian Diaspora in St. Petersburg. In 2000, he was the Responsible Secretary of the Armenian National and Cultural Autonomy of St. Petersburg and headed the Leningrad Regional Division of the Union of Armenians in Russia. In 2003, Vahagn defended a scientific thesis in Saint Petersburg and obtained his PhD in Historical Sciences. Since 2004, he has lived in Yerevan. Vahagn lectured at the University after Hrachya Atcharyan, the Yerevan Branch of the Moscow State University, and Russian-Armenian University (RAU). Since 2006, he has been employed at the Crisis Management State Academy of the RA Ministry of Internal Affairs. He is the Dean of the Department of Emergency Situations and Crisis Management. In 2020, V. Krbekyan was named Associate Professor in Historical Science. Vahagn Krbekyan is the author and co-author of the monograph titled “Participation of the Armenians in the Russo-Turkish War of 1877-1878” (Yerevan, 2004) and encyclopedias: “The Armenian Churches in the Russian Empire in 1717-1917” (Yerevan, 2010), “Armenian Apostolic Church Diocese of Russia and Nor Nakhijevan. Historical Path” (Moscow, 2013) and of about 30 scientific articles. He is a member of the Board of the Hadjin Compatriotic Union. He is married with a son, Gevorg, and a daughter, Nike.
