Simon Sarkis Melikian

SIMON SARKIS MELIKIAN
Simon Sarkis Melikian was born in 1889 in Cilician Hadjin. Witnessing the Genocide crimes the young man had courageously participated in the defense of Adana, and other towns of Cilicia and was a participant of the Hadjin self-defense in 1920. He left for Alexandria with the French Army and fought in Palestine in the Battle of Arara on behalf of the Armenian Legion. Afterwards, he settled in Beqaa Rayaq in Lebanon. Simon Melikian had five children: Haig (born in Adana), Mushegh (born in Ghazir), Agabi, Krikor, and Vehanoush (the latter three were born in Rayaq). Some years later, the family relocated to Beirut. Agabi married Mardiros Mihran Khatcherian from Constantinople and had three children: Kevork, Haigouhi, and Silva. Haig and Ivet Melikian had four children: Simon, Marta, Silva, and Mushegh.
