MIRTA SATDJIAN

 Mirta Satdjian is a recognized singer of Armenian folk and ethnographic songs; simultaneously she teaches the Armenian Language at the AGBU “Marie Manoogian” School and the St. Gregory the Illuminator Armenian School of Buenos Aires. The Committee for Cultural Relations with the Diaspora assisted Mirta in taking her studies at the then-newly established Department of Vocal of the Yerevan Komitas State Conservatory. She lived in Armenia for four years and studied under the guidance of Hovhannes Badalyan and Khachatur Avetisyan, graduating from the Conservatory in 1979. Upon her return to Argentina, she created an ensemble “Música Armenia100x100” with four more musicians and performed purely Armenian songs in the Armenian communities of South America. Fifteen years later, she formed “Haistars,” a contemporary Armenian song and dance ensemble. In 1985, she got married and in 1990, her only daughter, Melanie Dsovinar, was born. Mirta has four grandchildren: Maro, Nar, Areg, and Vahagn.
