MAKROUHI TATULIAN- KHATCHADOURIAN
Makrouhi Tatoulian-Khatchadourian was born in 1925 in Beirut, to Krikor and Zarouhi Tatoulian family. She received her primary education at the Sahaguian School and continued her secondary education at the AGBU Tarouhi Hagopian Secondary School for Girls, graduating with flying colors. Passionate for teaching, she started her teaching experiences at the Sahag-Mesrobian School of the Beirut Nor Hadjin neighborhood and then at the Roupinian and Central High Schools (1964-1992) and held the Director position of the latter for the last five years. In 1958, she married Haygazoun Khatchadourian and had one child, Maral (later Semerdjian). Committed to improving her teaching skills she undertook a pedagogical course at Haigazian University and completed the Normal Diploma Program՚Committed to the SDHP vision and the Armenian cause from a young age, she participated in the SDHP activities educating a great number of generations. From 1969 to 1982, she chaired the Homenmen Beirut Womens’ Club and she was awarded the Homenmen Veteran’s Diploma for her selfless and valuable contributions. The positions she assumed from the 1940s and the 1950s were the chairwomanships of the Homenmen Women’s Chapter (1945-1949) and the SDHP “Maro Nazarpek” affiliated organization (1950-1958). In 1988, she headed a “Maro Nazarpek” home-based Chapter. Throughout her life, she actively involved in the community activities, educational programs, gatherings, cultural events, and charity work significantly contributing to nation-focused healthy education. In 2018 Makrouhi Tatoulian-Khatchadourian’s book, “The Achievements of My Life in Rainbow Colors” was published. Like any Hadjentsi, Makrouhi has always stood out for her enthusiasm, her realistic attitude to life, and her willingness to lead an independent life. She has passed these principles to numerous generations in her 43 years of teaching career. Makrouhi Tatoulian-Khatchadourian, now at the age of 100, has three grandchildren, Levon, Mirna, and Arman, and three great-grandchildren – Zoe (Lebanon), James, and Jade (Canada).
