AHARON GRKASHARIAN
Surgeon, PhD in Medical Sciences
Aharon father, Haigaz Grkacharian, was born in Hadjin, in 1898. At a young age, Haigaz lost his father, and during the massacre of 1915, their family was exiled to the deserts of Syria and moved further to Lebanon, where Haigaz attended an American orphanage, studied dentistry, and later got married and had five children. Aharon Grkacharian was born in 1933, in Krakhan (Syria). In 1946, the Grkacharian family emigrated to Soviet Armenia. Aharon studied at the Yerevan Medical Institute from 1951-1957. Then, he worked as a surgeon at the Kirovakan Chemical Plant Hospital. In 1960, he was seconded to the Leningrad Institute for Advanced Training of Physicians. Then, he worked as a surgeon at the Hospital #8 in Yerevan. He has a PhD in Medical Sciences. In 1975, after moving to Paris, Aharon Grkacharian worked for another 18 years as a surgeon at Jean Verdier Hospital in Paris.
