The Compatriotic Union of Hadjin was founded in 1927. The publication of “Hadjin” magazine started in 1928. More than fifty similar unions, founded by the people of Hadjin, were operating in capitals and cities of numerous countries, wherein they were spread following the massacres of 1915-1916 and 1920, such as Syria, Palestine, Iraq, Egypt, Cyprus, Greece, France, South America and North America, Soviet Republic of Armenia, etc.
On 30 May 1927, a congress was convened in Rochester by the people originating from Hadjin and residing in Chicago, wherein delegates from all unions of the world were participating who integrated in a single system — the General Compatriotic Union of Hadjin. Chicago was set as the seat thereof, “Hadjin” magazine was recognised as the official newspaper being released in Marseille. In 1933 the seat of the Union and the publication of the magazine were moved to Buenos Aires wherein the largest community of the people originating from Hadjin is located.
Due to the investments made by the General Compatriotic Union of Hadjin the first “Nor Hadjin”district was built in the Soviet Republic of Armenia, mainly in Nubarashen. In further, the “Nor Hadjin” district was built in Beirut.
